Gabriel Azcarate is a multimedia designer who is masterminding a modern wave of creativity in the design world. Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Gabriel developed a passion for design at a young age, learning the fundamentals of art and design during his weekends and summer months. Gabriel focused on graphic design in high school, drawing inspiration from designers Virgil Abloh, Tinker Hatfield, and David Carson. He currently resides in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, where he pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication Design with a focus in Business Administration at the University of Texas at Arlington.
During his time in college, he exhibited the "The Extraterrestrial Species" publication and the "Fight Type" exhibition identity poster at the 2023 8th Annual Typography Exhibition. Additionally, Gabriel received the honor of creating the marketing and events for UT-Arlington's 2023 Homecoming. With Hollywood as the theme, he created a red carpet, cameras, and bright lights to give the Maverick community the "feel" of being in Hollywood.
Gabriel currently oversees marketing efforts for over 1,200 FirstCash pawn shop locations across the United States, representing 70+ field brands. His national campaigns, such as Black Friday and Valentine's Day promotions, are advertised in every store, influencing how customers perceive each brand. Gabriel creates in-store marketing materials such as product tags, posters, apparel, billboards, motion graphics, and jewelry displays. His design approach elevates the retail experience by establishing a unified brand identity that reimagines pawn shops as modern, welcoming spaces. Gabriel is currently pursuing a Design Communication Arts certification through UCLA Extension in addition to his professional work in order to further refine his design approach.
Gabriel is still very early in his design career, but he strives to push the envelope of his creativity in order to give his work meaning.
